*God will then move in the minds of all military forces on Earth to gather in the valley of Jezreel, the plains of Esdraelon, near the ancient city of Megiddo. This is Armageddon. (Joel 3: 14; Rev. 16: 16)

*The Kings of the East, a huge army out of the Orient numbering more than 200 million troops, will invade to make war with Antichrists and the other worlds forces. (Rev. 9: 15-16; 16: 12)

*Jesus said of this time, that if He didnt come back, everyone and everything would die because of the fighting about to take place. (Matt. 24: 22; Mark 13: 20)

Eternal Rewards

What does your eternal future hold?
For most Christians, the blessed hope is that once the rapture occurs or they depart from this world after death, they will spend eternity in heaven with Jesus Christ. For those who trust in Him, this is true. However, few Christians realize they will also face judgment before Jesus Christ. Not judgment for our sins, which were cleansed by Christ’s blood on the cross. But judgment for our works here on earth. Jesus will hold each of us accountable for the deeds performed in our earthly lives, and although our eternal destiny is never in question, the size and scope of our reward is.
Jesus Christ as the Ultimate Judge
The scriptures are filled with references to the ultimate judgment of our works, yet somehow many Christians have either failed to understand, or have chosen to ignore, what the bible says. Nevertheless, we will be judged. Paul makes this clear in his letter to the Corinthians:
“For we must all stand before Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body.” 2 Corinthians 5:10 (NLT)
Jesus confirms Paul’s assertion, revealing that each of us will be held accountable for every idle word we speak!
“And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak.” Matthew 12:36 (NLT)
and Jeremiah says the same:
“But I, the LORD, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve.” Jeremiah 17:10 (NLT)
Think of some of the terrible things we’ve said in our lives. In the years and months since, we hope others have forgotten them. But the Lord hasn’t! Even worse, try to remember some of the horrible things you’ve thought. Even our thoughts have condemned us! Who then can stand before Christ blameless? Only those who have washed themselves clean of sin from the blood of the cross:
“For the time has come for judgment, and it must begin with God’s household. And if judgment begins with us, what terrible fate awaits those who have never obeyed God’s Good News? And also, ‘If the righteous are barely saved, what will happen to godless sinners?’” 1 Peter 4:17-18 (NLT)
The fate of those who reject Christ is eternal separation from Him. But for those who embrace Him, we can face His judgment with fearless confidence:
“And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world.” 1 John 4:17 (NLT)
We can face Him with confidence because have lived our earthly lives like Jesus.
Judgment is Reserved for Christ
When Jesus walked among the crowds of Israel, he never attempted to build Himself up by knocking other people down. Instead, He attempted to lift others up and to encourage them to live godly lives. He knew that praise from God was a far greater reward than the often insincere and fleeting praise of humans. As such, He never looked down on others or proclaimed Himself superior to them. He humbled Himself, and although He had all the power of God, He expended His life to serve others – preaching the Gospel, healing those in need, washing His disciples’ feet, and giving His life on the cross in order to save all.
If we truly wish to live our lives like Christ, we should not be like the Pharisees who condemned others for small infractions of their own created laws and traditions. We should not be like the Pharisees who viewed themselves as morally superior to others. The arrogance they exhibited is the same arrogance that brought on the fall of Lucifer, and left to fester, that same arrogance can bring about the fall of any Christian.
Ultimate judgment of others belongs to Christ, so don’t make personal judgments of others in regard to God’s approval. For He alone knows all the facts. And the day will come when many who are looked down on today, who are rejected and ridiculed and labeled immoral by their own Christian brothers and sisters, will receive great reward from Jesus Christ. And many who are viewed as experts, saints, and holy men in this world will be given lowly positions in God’s Kingdom, while many who are viewed as outcasts, kooks, or poorly educated will be rewarded with the highest positions.
So listen to Paul when he tells us to reserve judgment for Christ:
“So don’t make judgments about anyone ahead of time – before the Lord returns. For he will bring our darkest secrets to light and will reveal our private motives. Then God will give to each one whatever praise is due.” 1 Corinthians 4:5 (NLT)
“So why do you condemn another believer? Why do you look down on another believer? Remember, we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. For the Scriptures say, ‘As surely as I live,’ says the LORD, ‘every knee will bend to me, and every tongue will confess and give praise to God.’ Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God. So let’s stop condemning each other. Decide instead to live in such a way that you will not cause another believer to stumble and fall.” Romans 14:10-12 (NLT)
Knowing this, we should encourage those around us, building them up with ample praise, careful rebuke, and all the respect deserving of those God has chosen to call His children. We should approach everyone with the same humility Christ exhibited, because we never know what role others will play in the eternal kingdom. The one you look down on today, might be your superior in heaven!
Not Everyone Will Have the Same Status in Heaven
This leads us to another myth which has taken hold of the Christian community – that everyone will enjoy equal standing in heaven. This is not true. Although God loves each of us without end, some will be given positions of higher status, authority, and responsibility than others. In the Book of Matthew, Jesus reveals this truth:
“So if you ignore the least commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God’s laws and teaches them will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.” Matthew 5:19 (NLT)
“But many who seem to be important now will be the least important then, and those who are considered least here will be the greatest then.” Matthew 19:30 (NLT)
If everyone is equal in heaven, then how can some be “greatest” while others are “least”? This is not a contradiction, but an indication of the true nature of heaven. Whether or not our earthly deeds are deserving of gain or loss is completely dependent upon what we do in our earthly lives. Heaven will simply be a place where true justice will reign.
Eternal Treasures in Heaven
Jesus, knowing the nature of heaven and the rewards that await us, discouraged us from becoming captives of this world and its fleeting pleasures. Instead, he encouraged us to focus on the accumulation of heavenly treasures:
“Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.” Matthew 6:19-21 (NLT)
Our treasures in heaven are eternal. Why then do so many of us spend a lifetime hoarding earthly treasures – cars, houses, stocks, and bonds – when everyone of us knows they are only temporary in nature? We can’t take our earthly treasures to heaven, but we can take our heavenly rewards. And if any doubt persists as to how the treasures of heaven compare to the treasures of this world, listen to what Paul has to say on the subject:
“That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, ‘No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.’” 1 Corinthians 2:9 (NLT)
Despite this knowledge, millions aspire to live in earthly mansions, while Jesus continues to prepare for us our own heavenly mansions – eternal abodes that will never catch fire, flood, get termites, or experience any of the headaches of earthly dwellings:
“There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?” John 14:2 (NLT)
Why then, are so many of us concerned with where we live?
Christ Will Award Us with Crowns
Some of our heavenly treasure will take the form of rewards we receive from Jesus Christ. “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have – Jesus Christ. Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials – gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw. But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value. If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward. But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builder will be saved, but like someone barely escaping through a wall of flames.” 1 Corinthians 3:11-15 (NLT)
For the Christian, belief in Jesus Christ is only a beginning. This is the foundation of our holy existence, and no one can lay a foundation other than Christ. Upon this foundation, we are expected to build a portfolio of works which benefit the Lord. Not one of these works is necessary for our salvation, but if we truly believe in Him, it will be our pleasure to perform such works. On the day of judgment, each work will be tested to see if it has eternal value. Only that which has everlasting value will result in reward.
So how do we know what works will have everlasting value? We must remember it is not our deed alone the Lord will judge, but the motive which caused us to perform the deed in the first place. The Lord, who knows the deepest secrets of our hearts and minds, will know the motives upon which our earthly lives were built. And the only motive which will result in a reward is one that desires glory for Jesus Christ.
Among the many rewards we’re eligible to receive, the Bible specifically mentions five crowns:
The Crown of Victory
“Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.” 1 Corinthians 9:25 (NLT)
The prize to which Paul refers is a crown. This crown is reserved for those who, through careful discipline, have overcome the desires of the flesh. Through means of the Holy Spirit, they have managed to gradually wane themselves from the power of the temptations of this world. Just as an athlete trains to perfect his performance in an athletic contest, Christians must train themselves to overcome the desires of the flesh.
If you want to win this crown, make sure to listen to and abide by the Holy Spirit within you. Train yourself so that your every thought, feeling, and action is measured and judged in accordance to God’s will for your life.
The Crown of Rejoicing
“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stay true to the Lord. I love you and long to see you, dear friends, for you are my joy and the crown I receive for my work.” Philippians 4:1 (NLT)
“After all, what gives us hope and joy, and what will be our proud reward and crown as we stand before our Lord Jesus when he returns? It is you! Yes, you are our pride and joy.” 1 Thessalonians 2:19-20 (NLT)
This crown is reserved for those whose efforts have led to others becoming believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. As Paul states, this crown will be a source of pride and joy for all of eternity, represented not only in the form of a crown, but in the form of actual fellow Christians who will be a source of joy for the Lord for all of eternity.
If you want to win this crown, make sure to share the Gospel of Christ with others whenever God presents an opportunity.
The Crown of Righteousness
“And now the prize awaits me – the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:8 (NLT)
This crown is reserved for those who eagerly and patiently await the promised return of Jesus Christ. Throughout the scriptures, Jesus encourages us to be good and faithful servants, prepared for the master’s return. One day, He will come “like a thief in the night” – unexpectedly – and only those who have lived their lives in daily anticipation of this moment will be awarded this crown.
If you want to win this crown, make sure to live every day of your life with the constant expectation that Christ could return at a moment’s notice.
The Crown of Life
“God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.” James 1:12 (NLT)
“Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer. The devil will throw some of you into prison to test you. You will suffer for ten days. But if you remain faithful even when facing death, I will give you the crown of life.” Revelation 2:10 (NLT)
This crown is reserved for those who endure testing, temptation, persecution, suffering, and martyrdom for Jesus Christ. Believing in Christ is not a recipe for carefree living in a world which hates Him. For if the world mocked, ridiculed, and murdered Jesus Himself, then why should His followers expect to avoid suffering? We can not. Some will suffer worse than others, but everyone that remains faithful will receive the crown of life.
If you want to win this crown, make sure to love Jesus Christ more than you love your own life.
The Crown of Glory
“And now, a word to you who are elders in the churches. I, too, am an elder and a witness to the sufferings of Christ. And I, too, will share in his glory when he is revealed to the whole world. As a fellow elder, I appeal to you: care for the flock that God has entrusted to you. Watch over it willingly, not grudgingly – not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve God. Don’t lord it over the people assigned to your care, but lead them by your own good example. And when the Great Shepherd appears, you will receive a crown of never-ending glory and honor.” 1 Peter 5:1-4 (NLT)
This crown is reserved for those who are placed in a position of authority and responsibility in our earthly lives. With others looking to us for leadership by example, this is a task of enormous importance. Such people must exhibit love and humility, carefully watching over those with whom they have been entrusted. Their motives and hearts must be pure, focused on serving God rather than serving themselves. Those who lead others by example will receive a crown of never-ending glory and honor.
If you want to win this crown, make sure to be a good example to others, especially those who look to you for guidance. And be a good and faithful steward of those God has entrusted to your care.
Our Rewards in Heaven Directly Correlate with Our Efforts on Earth
In addition to the previously mentioned crowns, Christ has a number of additional rewards waiting for those who love Him. But our ability to receive each reward is in direct correlation with how we handle the earthly opportunities he gives us. Jesus clearly illustrates this concept in Matthew 25 with the Parable of the Talents. In this story, each servant is entrusted with a certain number of talents, each according to his ability. In the end, each is rewarded by the master on the basis of how he has invested the talents. In the same way, each of us will be rewarded on the basis of how we have advanced the kingdom of heaven.
Yet another promise of reward from Jesus Christ appears in Matthew 19:
“And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or property, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much in return and will have eternal life.” Matthew 19:29 (NLT)
How many stock market investors would be ecstatic to experience just one 100-fold investment return in a lifetime? Yet the opportunity to receive an everlasting 100-fold return is available for anyone who invests in advancing the kingdom of heaven!
Conclusion
All who trust in Jesus Christ will experience eternity in His presence. In heaven, there will be no sorrow, death, crying, or pain. However, there is no guarantee that we will not experience regret. Despite our greatest efforts on His behalf, each of us will probably look back on our earthly lives and wish we had done more to advance the kingdom of heaven. We won’t look back out of jealousy or envy or pride, but with the simple wish we would have glorified His name to a greater degree. In heaven, we’ll have all of eternity to reflect on what we could have done for the Lord. As such, we should take advantage of the time we have left.
The things of this world should be of little value to Christians. We know that accumulation of wealth, career advancement, and earthly pleasures have no lasting value. Only a life which gives glory to Jesus Christ has lasting value. So don’t waste another moment!
Rearrange the priorities of your life, and look forward to His coming with great confidence. Live your life in accordance with the example set by Christ, and you will experience great reward for all of eternity. The time to do so is now, for we never know when our window of opportunity will close forever:
“Look, I am coming quickly. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take away your crown.” Revelation 3:11 (NLT)
“Look, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” Revelation 22:12-13 (NLT)
Amen! Come, Lord Jesus, come!

The Rapture of His Saints

The Rapture of His Saints

The absolute promise of the Heavenly Father to care for and protect His own saints as His own family was evident from the very moment He created them in Genesis. The Father actually came down from Heaven and watched over the first family. He walked with them in the garden until sin drove them into hiding. Then He even killed an innocent animal to clothe them so they could come out of hiding for a limited fellowship with Himself. Slowly, that close communion was lost until only one man was recorded as walking with God.
Enoch was the last member of His family who had the privilege of taking a personal walk with God the Father was so moved by their time together that He invited Enoch to go back to Heaven with Him. The Bible records, “And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.” (Genesis 5:24)

The Rapture is much, much more than escaping from whatever level of judgment is coming on this world. The idea of God’s family being protected during His judgments is a Biblical principle that fills the Scriptures from Genesis to Revelation. The Creator never judges the righteous with the wicked. Even Sodom and Gomorrah would have escaped the fire and brimstone destruction if ten righteous citizens could have been found. Jeremiah was instructed to purchase land while he was imprisoned by King Zedekiah even when he had pronounced that the invading army would carry them into captivity.
Jeremiah was removed from the captives as they marched into slavery and was allowed to return to his possessions. The faithful family of God that forsakes this world to walk with Him has nothing to fear when the Father and the Son begin their wrath on wickedness.

The ark was a perfect type of the Rapture.
The fury of God against wickedness had reached its full capacity and action was imminent. Noah was a righteous man and found grace in the eyes of the Lord. Elijah was another wonderful example of the Rapture. When Elijah had finished his ministry, the Father raptured him by a chariot and a whirlwind up to heaven in a supernatural flash. This kind of action by the Father of all creation is breathtaking and cannot be separated from His nature.
Every Scripture and every story in the Bible are part of the whole. You cannot have an Old Testament God that is different in the minutest detail from His person in the rest of Scripture. The Bible is a perfect whole and every nuance of truth fits the same pattern as all truth.

The Prophets Prepared the Way for the RaptureThe great events of God’s actions and His dealing with the families of the First Testament can only set the tone for the prophecies of God’s great voices.
The statesman prophet Isaiah gave one of the Bible’s greatest endorsements of the coming Rapture that will fulfill all the rest of His exclusive deliverance of the godly. It is evident from Isaiah’s prophecy that this was a personal hope not just a future prophecy. Isaiah was going by the way of the grave but he saw himself as an unwelcome guest in the graveyard. He could hear the dust of his ashes singing as resurrection life visited his tomb of hope.

Read his words of prophetic revelation. “Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead. Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.” (Isaiah 26:19-21)

Anyone that cannot see the Rapture in these words has eyes that are blinded. Isaiah even saw the wedding chamber where the Bride would meet the Divine Husband. He saw this place of the wedding as a place where the saints would escape the indignation of the Father’s wrath against the wicked. He even understood that the earth was going to feel the wrath of judgment and that the righteous would not still be entombed in graveyards. The finality of this event is evident in the words, “the earth…shall no more cover her slain.” (Isaiah 26:21)

Malachi was another voice with an exceptional prophecy about the future Rapture. This prophecy unveils something about the Rapture that had not been revealed before. Malachi shows the two aspects of the future return of the Son of God. The Lord is seen making up His jewels by sparing them from His judgment and returning with them to be His army in judging the wicked on this earth. This very truth is at the heart of the pre-tribulational Rapture. He comes first to get his jewels and returns with them to establish His Kingdom on earth.

Read this prophecy. “Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name. And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.” (Malachi 3:16-18)

It is simple to move from these First Testament truths right into the Second Testament church dispensation. The First Testament conceals the new but the Second Testament unveils the old. God intended that each covenant would accentuate the other.

The Second Covenant

Jesus Christ was very clear in giving support to the First Testament writers. His entire ministry and lessons came directly out of the First Covenant. If we will give to every verse of the Old Testament the same respect Jesus gave to the verses He quoted, we will be fully justified in doing so. In Matthew Chapter twenty-four Jesus Christ ties the writing of Daniel to His own words. The Son of God connects Daniel’s explanation of the dark revelation of the Antichrist to the period Jesus Christ describes as the Great Tribulation.
In that same text He reminds us of His coming in glory to establish His Kingdom on this earth. He once had described Daniel warning of the “abomination of desolation,” then tied it to the Great Tribulation, and spoke of Jesus coming; He then warned the listeners that they could escape the dark events by being prepared to be caught up with Him.
The Lord said this in a very revealing manner.
He stated, “So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.” (St. Matthew 24:33,37,40, 44)

If this is not convincing, then read St. Luke’s description of these very same words that Matthew quoted. Luke quoted the Son of God’s statement as follows “And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.” (St. Luke 21:34-36)

Jesus Christ was not trying to present a chronological picture, yet He came very close to doing so. Apostle Paul gave us the most celebrated Scripture teaching about the Rapture of the chosen family. The saints were weeping over the saintly loved ones they had buried in death. The apostle uses this sadness to give them hope and to show them the plan of God. He prophesied,“But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God:
and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)

It would take considerable effort to mess up this Scripture.
The saints are certainly going to be resurrected from the dead and the living saints are going to be transformed. The Lord Himself is seen coming down from the third heaven to meet the saints as they arise into the heavens. It’s very apparent that they go all the way back to Heaven with Him and never separate from each other again. The words “caught up” which were used by our English translators were given as one word in the Greek language. It was “harpazo” and means “Rapture.” This word is a dynamic word and means “to snatch up, to carry off for oneself, to deliver from pending sorrow.” It is a perfect word for the Rapture of His saints to Himself.

The promised return of the Lord was a big thing with the early church. They never got used to being without Him in their midst even after the baptism of the Comforter. They actually expected Him to return before all of them had died! They were enthused to ready the whole world while they looked for Him at the same time.
They warned of the false brethren that would scoff at the hope of His coming. Peter wrote to saints saying, “…I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” (2 Peter 3:1b-4)

Anyone that questioned His coming back for them was a false prophet to them and they were careful to say so.
Look at these powerful Scriptures that are loaded with the hope of the Rapture of His saints:
“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” (St John 14:1-3)

“And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:9-11)

“And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: {taking: or, yielding} Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.” (2 Thessalonians 1:7-10)

“Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, {unto him: or, around him} That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition.” (2 Thessalonians 2:1-3)

The Book of RevelationEvery great truth in the Bible ends in the book of Revelation. From the moment Enoch “was not because God took him” in Genesis to the “open door in heaven” of Revelation, the great “catching away” of the saints has never ended. Apostle John was told by the Son of God that His vision of an open door in Heaven was the beginning of everything. “hereafter.” The seven letters clearly concluded at the Rapture where an apostate church had risen to spew its deception on the world. This great multitude of religious apostates will be spewed into the Tribulation. Look at these words, “I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.” (Revelation 3:15-16) Immediately after we see that scene in Revelation Chapter three, we see the next scene of the Rapture as Chapter four opens.

The Lord Himself is not visible in Chapter four but we hear Him speaking as the voice of a trumpet.” After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald. And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.” (Revelation 4:1-4)

The Old Testament saints and the New Testament saints are finally one. The twenty-four elders bring together an innumerable multitude to sit before the majestic throne of the Father and to prepare for the closing events of human history. The overcoming saints of both covenants of the Holy Bible are one together. They are never called saints again. They are elders from Chapter four to Chapter nineteen and then they become His army. After the victory of His Second Coming is complete, they will reign as kings and priests for one thousand years. After that, they have only one position as His eternal Bride dwelling in New Jerusalem.

Chapter five is the celebration of a seven sealed book that the Lamb of God receives at the Father’s hand. The seven years of the Great Tribulation could never begin until this book is presented to the Lamb of God and He and His elders, the glorified saints, prepare to judge and cleanse this earth.
“And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.” (St. John 5:27) But His church has been promised that she would judge the world and the angels. “Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels?” (1 Corinthians 6:2-3a) This judgment of the world and of the angels is an intimate act of the seven years that start in the first verse of Chapter six. Chapters four and five are the picture of His family finally raptured to His presence and ready with the Lord of Lords Himself to set this world straight. Together we will judge all uncleanness, bring Satan and his unholy trinity to answer for six thousand years of destruction, and then prepare the world for the Kingdom of God.

Women in the Church

Women in the Church
We can see in the Old Testament as well as in the New Testament YHVH has an important role for women. I would like to discuss this role in both Testaments.

Old Testament:

Eve: God makes male and female in His image. God uses the rib of the man as a symbol of their equality. An old story of the rib is told by Rabbi Joshua:
"God deliberated from what member He would create woman, and He reasoned with Himself thus: I must not create her from Adam's head, for she would be a proud person, and hold her head high. If I create her from the eye, then she will wish to pry into all things; if from the ear, she will wish to hear all things; if from the mouth, she will talk much; if from the heart, she will envy people; if from the hand, she will desire to take all things; if from the feet, she will be a gadabout. Therefore I will create her from the member which is hid, that is the rib, which is not even seen when man is naked."[9] (Wikepedia)
The words used for the creation of the female and her help to man imply equality (Hebrew: ézer k neged). This word is the same word used for help that YHVH gives His people. There is nothing of less importance in this word for helper.

Miriam: She was a leader is Israel. Micah 6:4 -God says He sent Moses, also Aaron and Miriam to Lead the Israelites.

Deborah: A judge and leader of Israel and a prophet. Judges 4:4. Deut 17:9-12

Huldah: A prophet who was consulted by high priests. 2 Kings 22:11-20; 2 Chr. 34:22-28

Isaiah's Wife: Called a prophet (Isa 8:3)

Joel 2: 28-29 YHVH will pour out His Spirit on all people. Sons and daughters will prophesy. YHVH will pour out His Spirit even on men and women servants. Acts 2:16-18 the scripture is fulfilled on Pentecost.

Esther: Was called by YHVH to save her people and to become a leader over them.

New Testament:

Mark 15:40 Luke 8:1-3: Women were allowed to support Yehoshua financially.

Mat 19:4-9 Mark 10:2-9, John 8:7: Men leave their parents to be united with their wife. Women did not leave their family to be united with their husband.

Mat 9:20 Mark 5:25 Luke 8:43: Jewish women were not supposed to speak in public to a religious leader, because of the Greco-Roman influences over the Jewish culture. Yet Yehoshua called her to public dialogue and called her, daughter. He affirmed her faith in public when it was shameful for women to read from religious teachings in public, because of the Greco-Roman influences on Jewish culture.

Luke 13:10-17: Yeoshua called a crippled woman to the front of the synagogue where women were not allowed. He called her a daughter of Abraham when only men were referred to as sons of Abraham.

John 11:27 Mat 12:47 Mark 10:29: Whoever did the will of YHVH was considered His brother, and sister, and mother.

John 11:27 Luke 10:38: Martha had the Revelation that Yeoshua was the Messiah. Yehoshua let Mary sit at his feet which was a phrase, meaning a student learning from a teacher.

Mat 12:42: The Queen of Sheba would rise in judgment and condemn the generation of his day.

Mat 28:8-10 John 20:17 Mark 16:14: After Yeoshua was resurrected, He appeared first to women and gave them the first opportunity to report that he has risen. His disciples were rebuked later for not believing the women.

Col 2:11-12: The mark of the believer changes from a gender exclusive one, circumcision, to a gender inclusive one, baptism.

Acts 1:14-2:4: On Pentecost 120 men and women had received the gift of tongues and began speaking in languages they did not know.

Luke2:36-38: the prophet Anna gives thanks to YHVH for baby Yeoshua at the temple.

Acts 21:9: Luke tells us that the evangelist Peter has four unmarried daughters who prophesied.

Gal 3:28: There is neither Jew nor Greek, neither slave nor free, neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ.

Phil 4:2-3 Paul says there were two women who were at his side the cause of the gospel. Phoebe is called a deacon/minister of the church. Diakonos in the Greek does not mean servant, but of deacon like duties.

Rom 16:1-15:

Ephesians 11: Yeoshua gave gifts to His -people -some to be apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. The word in the Greek for people used here anthropos which means for both men and women.

Rom 16:7 Paul calls Junia an outstanding apostle. Scholars say Junia was a common female name in that day.

The scriptures in question:

1 Cor 14:34-36: women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says.
This seems contrary to all the information above and in fact there is no law in scripture that tells women to be silent. Jewish oral law said women need be silent in synagogues and it was the influence of the Greco-Roman culture on the Jewish culture that made women second class. Paul speaks about women prophesying and praying earlier without rebuke. There is an additional mark in the Greek after these verses indicating a refutation to what was just said. It is as if these verses were made in sarcasm. Some translations include after theses verse Paul saying, What? As if to say why do you think this way??
It is also likely that Paul was speaking only of the women in that church area who were known for corrupting YHVH's word.
It is seen from Old Testament and New Testament that women are an important part of the church in the teaching/leading/prophesying/deaconship/tongues and take part in all of the spiritual gifts YHVH has given.

1 Tim 2:11-15: A women should learn in quietness and full submission. In that time that was a way of saying being a good student which was amazing since women were not taught at that time.
I do not permit a woman to teach or have authority over a man; she must be quiet. The word in Greek for authority here is authentein. Research has shown this word more closely means to have the upper hand or dominate. Women often used their sexual ploys to have an upper hand with men and taught them their corrupted versions of the truth in some church areas.
This behavior was being admonished and corrected here by Paul.
Clearly a woman with good intent, having a strong hold on YHVH's word may teach a man who is in need of truth and may preach the word of YHVH to a congregation in need of it.

My child just as in the beginning I marked off the different seasons, sohave I appointed a time for every activity and every deed. Therefore be ofgood cheer, for though you have been in a season of being salted by fire; Iam about to do something new. Though you may not perceive it, it willspring up.

My child, you have said in your heart "Why is this burning taking solong,for I feel so dry?", and that you have felt bewildered as you seeminglywandered through the land of confusion. But I have led you down thislengthy desert road so that My Name might be glorified. For if I had takenyou on a shorter route, the enemy would have raged against your soul muchmore severe and you may have become too discouraged and given up.

But now I decree to you that your days are numbered and your deliverance isclose at hand. For just as Esther had to undergo twelve months of beautytreatments before she could appear before the king, so have you beenundergoing something similar. Just as the Israelites salted the grainoffering and how it was made the most holy of all the offerings,so as it iswith you that you be made holy and set apart for the Lord. For I requireall offerings to be salted and burned as to be a sweet smelling aroma untoMe.

All of your days are ordained for you beloved and are written in My bookeven before one of them came into being; therefore do not be anxious aboutstriving or if the mistakes you have made disqualify you. For it is I whoworks in you to will and to act accordingly to My good purpose, and thework I began in you I will carry it on to completion until the day of JesusChrist. For you can do nothing against Me because I work all thingstogether for good for those who love Me and are called to My purpose.

Therefore, My child, rejoice! For it is through your prayers and the helpgiven by the Holy Spirit that what has happened will turn out for yourdeliverance. For I am making a way in the desert and streams in thewasteland, so My chosen people may drink because I am sending rain initsappointed season.

Is God just Love? or is he Holy too?

Is God just Love? or is he Holy too?
I think many of us perceive God as a Loving God, almost as an Unconditionally Loving God....
Yes God is Love...
But something we have Forgotten about...is that God is HOLY !!!
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come- Revelation 4:8
When we go to heaven, we won't be crying "Loving Loving Loving is our Lord God Almighty, who loves me today and tomorrow and yesterday and every other day"
well I got an eye-opener and a half for you....
have you read this verse:
You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil;with you the wicked cannot dwell.
The arrogant cannot stand in your presence;you hate all who do wrong.

So could God be a God of Unconditional Love?

What do you suppose that verse means?
Exactly what it says....however sad it may be, we have to remember that if God is Holy, he must also be Loving....Loving toward the righteous, not the sinful,

God is a Holy and Loving God....but in order for us to grasp who he truly is....we must not see his Love as such a thing where we can do anything and live in rebellion, for he is a Holy God....and he cannot stand it when we sin....
and we can't view him as a Holy God with no Love, because then we feel that he is distant...when in truth, he's only as distant as we allow him to be...
He knows everything about us:- Psalm 139

but in order for us to Both Know Each other, we must get rid of our sins, by get rid of them I mean forsake them....and never look back....
We will always be tempted to go back, but it's important that we never do go back.......and when we're deep enough with him, even when we're tempted, we won't want to go back....his Holiness and Lovingness all put together will be more than we could have ever imagined before we knew him.......

God is Love:

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him- 1 John 3:1
You want God to Know You, and his Love fall down upon you....then read this verse, and remember it, and meditate upon it throughout the day:
But the man who LOVES God is KNOWN by God- 1 Corinthians 8:3

Love God, that is how he can know us....
No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us- 1 John 4:12

and as a result of loving God, our Love will come to others, because we Love God and because of following after his righteousness commandments and acknowledging him as a HOLY HOLY HOLY GOD....and Living Knowing that he is a HOLY HOLY HOLY GOD....

Remember God is Love, but Don't Forget.....
HOLY HOLY HOLY IS THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY- Revelation 4:8

We can never be perfect enough to be Holy enough to be with him, for all have sinned- Romans 3:23

When God calls little children to dwell with Him above, We mortals sometimes question the wisdom of His love.

For no heartache compares with the death of one small child, Who does so much to make our world seem wonderful and mild. Perhaps God tires of calling the aged to His fold, So He picks a rosebud before it can grow old. God knows how much we need them and so He takes but few, To make the land of Heaven more beatiful to view. Believing this is difficult still somehow we must try, The saddest word mankind knows will always be "Goodbye." So when a little child departs we who are left behind, Must realize God loves little children Angels are hard to find.

Sally jumped up as soon as she saw the Surgeon come out of the operating room. She said "How is my little boy? Is he going to be O.K.? When can I see him?" The Surgeon said, "I'm sorry, we did all we could." Sally said, "Why do little children get cancer, doesn't GOD care any more? GOD, where were you when my son needed you?" The Surgeon said, "One of the nurses will be out in a few minutes to let you spend time with your son's remains before it's transported to the university". Sally asked that the nurse stay with her while she said good-bye to her son. Sally ran her fingers through his thick red curly hair. The nurse said, "Would you like a lock of his hair?" Sally nodded yes. The nurse cut a lock of his hair and put it in a plastic bag and handed it to Sally. Sally said, "It was Jimmy's idea to give his body to the university for study. He said it might help somebody else," and that is what he wanted. I said, No at first, but Jimmy said, "Mom I won't be using it after I die, maybe it will help some other little boy to be able to spend one more day with his mother". Sally said, "My Jimmy had a heart of Gold, always thinking of someone else and always wanting to help others if he could". Sally walked out of the Children's Hospital for the last time now after spending most of the last 6 months there. She sat the bag with Jimmy's things in it on the seat beside of her in the car. The drive home was hard and it was even harder to go into an empty house. She took the bag to Jimmy's room and started placing the model cars and things back in his room exactly where he always kept them. She laid down across his bed and cried herself to sleep holding his pillow. Sally woke up about midnight and laying beside of her on the bed, was a letter folded up. She opened the letter, it said:
Dear Mom, I know you're going to miss me, but don't think that I will ever forget you or stop loving you because I'm not around to say I LOVE YOU. I'll think of you every day mom and I'll love you even more each day. Some day we will see each other again. If you want to adopt a little boy so you won't be so lonely, he can have my room and my old stuff to play with. If you decide to get a girl instead, she probably wouldn't like the same things as us boys do, so you will have to buy her dolls and stuff girls like. Don't be sad when you think about me, this is really a great place. Grandma and Grandpa met me as soon as I got here and showed me around some, but it will take a long time to see everything here. The angels are so friendly, and I love to watch them fly. Jesus doesn't look like any of the pictures I saw of Him, but I knew it was Him as soon as I saw Him. Jesus took me to see GOD! And guess what mom? I got to sit on GOD'S knee and talk to Him like I was somebody important. I told GOD that I wanted to write you a letter and tell you good-bye and everything, but I knew that wasn't allowed. God handed me some paper and His own personal pen to write you this letter with. I think Gabriel is the name of the angel that is going to drop this letter off to you. God said for me to give you the answer to one of the questions you asked Him about... Where was He when I needed him? God said, "The same place He was when Jesus was on the cross. He was right there, as He always is with all His children. Tonight I get to sit at the table with Jesus for supper. I'm sure the food will be great. I almost forgot to let you know - Now I don't hurt anymore, the cancer is all gone. I'm glad because I couldn't stand that pain anymore and God couldn't stand to see me suffer the pain either, so He sent The Angel of Mercy to get me. The Angel said I was Special Delivery!

Was Jesus' Return a Waste of Time?

Jan Markell ChristianNet.com recently asked readers to respond to the question, "Are we living in the end-times?" Of the hundreds surveyed, 75% responded positively.One said, "Everything Jesus spoke about in regards to the signs of the times at His return is happening right before our eyes." Many of the respondents agreed that what is happening in the world today is fulfilling Bible prophecies regarding the last days.
Some also stated that Christians should not be fearful of this time but rather be rejoicing. One said these days are as they were in the days of Noah (Matthew 24). Another believer exclaimed, "You can see it, taste it, smell it, hear it, and feel that Jesus is coming soon."
Yet one of the most frequent comments I get is that when those who want to pass on this good news to friends or family, they are met with criticism, apathy, or scorn. And while Peter tells us there will be a generation of scoffers (II Peter 3:4), clearly not everyone has caved to this attitude.
So if there is a strong remnant believing in His soon return and who even suggest we can almost hear the hoof beats of the four horsemen of the apocalypse, why aren't more pulpits teaching this? Why aren't more publishing houses printing such books, more TV preachers explaining it, and more seminaries helping future pastors prepare to teach it?
Why can't some in all of the above categories step up to the plate and endure some criticism which they will surely get? The Lord's soon return is a message that helps us live holy lives in an unholy age. It encourages us to evangelize if we believe the hour is late. It takes our eyes off of daily struggles and helps us focus on eternity. And a special crown awaits all who long for His appearing (II Tim. 4:8).
But many church leaders will tell you the issue is "divisive," it will "impede church growth," and the church must address "cultural issues" facing families. Pastors don't want "pie-in-the-sky-by-and-by." They want to address issues that their congregation may be struggling with. But if the congregation was focusing on the "blessed hope" of Jesus' return, a lot of other anxieties and "cultural issues" would diminish! This is the best news in the Bible, and it occupies about three-fourths of the Bible. Do you think God wants us to know about these things? Don't you think He believes this message is the antidote for a lot of social, personal, and family issues?
Roger Oakland writes in his new book, "Faith Undone," a critique of the Emergent Church, "Many who were once looking for the return of Jesus have fallen asleep. We now live in a period of time where numerous prominent Christian leaders are telling the Christian masses that paying attention to the signs of the times in light of the Bible is a waste of time. And many of them take it a step further and accuse those who believe what Bible prophecy says about the end of the age of being negative and self-centered."
Oakland quotes Rick Warren in "Purpose Driven Life" as saying, "The details of my return are none of your business. What is your business is the mission I have given you. Focus on that."
But Jesus never said that! Rather, He chastised the Pharisees of His day for knowing the signs of the weather but not the signs of the times (His first coming). And our "mission" should be winning souls while there is still time. Again, this blends in perfectly with a "lateness of the hour" theme. The words of Jesus and exhortations about His return in the Bible are legion!
The poll results encourage me greatly. There are those in the church today who do anticipate a soon-returning King.
We just don't know how soon.

Many children of God have little knowledge [even at this late hour] of the ministry of the Holy Spirit, and this MUST change before the church begins to walk in the fullness of the authority she has been given in Christ. The Holy Spirit has been given to us for our total and absolute empowerment in ALL things. Therefore, it is important for each and every believer to bring themselves into a position of total and absolute submission to Him [through an act of their will, and faith] in EVERY facet of their lives. If the child of God refuses to acknowledge the fact [spiritual reality] that it is ONLY through the Holy Spirit that they can receive the Father's direction and wisdom - as well as His strength [divine empowerment] for accomplishing any given task - they will continue to lean upon their own understanding, and this will keep them in darkness, and apart from the true purpose and will of the Father for their life and ministry. The refusal to believe the truth that whatever the Father commands He ALSO empowers will, again, cause that child of God to seek out - and lean upon - their own understanding [with a great deal of help from Satan and his forces], apart from the Wisdom of God and the Spirit of God. This will always, if continued, make that child of God more and more uncertain [ignorant] of their position in Christ and, thus, they will turn even farther away from the Word of God as their "final" authority. It is because of these things that many abandon [ignore] the command to "walk by faith and not by sight" and, thus, their lives remain under the power of sin and NOT GRACE [although the mercy of God remains] - and it is certain that darkness will continue to abound in the life of that child of God until such a time as a deep and thorough [true] repentance comes forth. It has always been the first and foremost scheme of the Evil One to separate the child of God from the Word, thereby moving them out into an area where - in constantly leaning upon their own understanding - they will have no inclination to either be led by, or be filled with, the Holy Spirit. It is the ministry of the Holy Spirit to bring each child of God into an "abiding" holiness - for, indeed, He is the Spirit of Holiness. Years of tradition and unbelief have deluded many with the lie that holiness is but for a few special ones chosen of God but, in these days, we shall see a Glorious Church rise up in the earth - each individual member of the Body walking in holiness, and totally empowered by the Holy Spirit in ALL things. In this hour, let us be found pursuing a continually deeper revelation of the ministry of the Holy Spirit as it applies to us - for in this way a superabundant entrance into the fullness of our Kingdom-position will be assured.

THREE STEPS TO RECEIVING DIVINE GUIDANCE BY THE HOLY SPIRIT

1. The child of God needs to surrender their whole heart and, therefore, be willing [to be made willing if necessary] to do ALL of the will of God for their life.

2. The child of God must be ever ready and willing at all times to obey [yield to] even the simplest instruction given by the Holy Spirit.

3. The child of God must have full and absolute trust in the Holy Spirit - and this can ONLY be brought about through daily intimate fellowship with the Father and His Word.

On many occasions I've had people write to me to tell me that they're struggling to see the European Union as the great military power it seems to be in Bible prophecy if the European Union is indeed the revived Roman empire of Bible prophecy.
Here's what the Bible tells us concerning the revived Roman empire's future military prowess:

Daniel 7:7:
After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it [was] diverse from all the beasts that [were] before it; and it had ten horns.
Daniel 7:19:
Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth [were of] iron, and his nails [of] brass; [which] devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;
Daniel 7:23:
Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.I have to admit that it's difficult to see the European Union being that powerful militarily, but I want to take everyone back to what I've said earlier.Appearances Can Be DeceivingWhile the European Union isn't known for its military prowess, it has forces actively deployed in a number of locations around the globe where they are acting in peacekeeping roles.
Not only that, the EU's military forces are becoming a subject of concern in Brussels where both NATO and the main offices of the European Parliament are headquartered.In recent years the European Union has been busy creating a contingent of rapid reaction forces designed to be deployed to hot spots around the globe on short notice.
Much as I anticipated would eventually become the case, NATO is beginning to wonder to whom those forces would belong in the event of a crisis scenario.
The following is an excerpt from an EUObserver article:
Over the last decade there has been simmering tension between the organisations as NATO tries to redefine itself after the Cold War and the EU has become more present on the world stage, and increasingly prepared to back its humanitarian and development goals up with peacekeeping forces."Soldiers that are active for the EU will be missed by us and vice versa," a NATO official told Der Standard."And in a crisis. To whom do the soldiers then really belong? The EU will lose out," the official added.Is the NATO official correct in believing that the EU will "lose out" in a crisis scenario or could it be that, in a crisis scenario that will occur in the prophetic future, a meeting of the European Union's parliament will take place in Brussels as NATO gathers nearby as well?
Could it be that a leader who will use peace to destroy many - the prophesied Antichrist - will subsequently rally all the might of the West's military, including the combined forces of NATO, around him that he might lead the revived Roman empire to fulfillment of Daniel's prophecies shown above?
I don't know the answer to that question, of course, but what we're seeing take place here is what I have written about on a number of occasions in the past.As the European Union continues to create forces for its own use, NATO is becoming concerned that its ability to function in a time of crisis may be greatly hampered. The NATO official quoted in the article above believes that, if a day comes in the future when NATO needs to act as a group, the European Union is going to "lose out."The prophet Daniel, as shown above, doesn't foresee the revived Roman empire of Bible prophecy losing out militarily. Not at all! Therefore, whatever the E.U. is up to where its military is concerned is going to succeed, leading to the fulfillment of Bible prophecy. The question that remains to be answered at this point is how the teeth of the beast are ultimately going to be bared for all to see.The end times drama continues...

superstitions?

Superstition is based on the ignorant faith of an object having magical powers. Another word for superstition is idolatry. The Bible does not support the idea of things occurring by chance, but nothing is done outside of what God works through His plan (Acts 4:28, Ephesians 1:10). Scripture condemns those who practice astrology (Deuteronomy 4:19), magic, divination and sorcery (2 Kings 21:6, Isaiah 2:6).Idolatry is also forbidden, and no one who practices it will enter the Kingdom of God (Revelation 21:27).
We should get our faith not from objects or rituals that are mere folklore, but from the one true God who gives eternal life. “Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power” (Colossians 2:8-10).

What is the Christian view of psychics?
The Bible strongly condemns the practice of spiritism, mediums, occult, psychics, etc. (Leviticus 20:27; Deuteronomy 18:10-13). Horoscopes, tarot cards, astrology, fortune tellers, palm readings, séances, etc., fall into this category as well. These practices are based on the concept that there are gods, spirits, or deceased loved ones that can give you advise and guidance. These “gods” or “spirits” are demons (2 Corinthians 11:14-15).The Bible gives us no reason to believe that deceased loved ones can,or would even want to contact us. If they were believers, they are in heaven, enjoying the most wonderful place imaginable –in fellowship with a loving God. If they were not believers, they are in hell,suffering the un-ending torment for rejecting God’s love and rebelling against Him.So, if our loved ones cannot contact us, how do mediums, spiritists, psychics, etc. get such accurate information?
There have been many “exposes” on psychics. It has been exposed how a psychic can gain immense amounts of information on a person through ordinary means. Sometimes by just using a telephone number through caller ID and then an internet search, a psychic can get names, addresses, dates of birth, dates of marriage, family members, etc. However, it is undeniable that psychics sometimes know things that should be impossible for them to know.

Where do they get this information?
The answer is - Satan and his demons. 2 Corinthians 11:14-15 tells us,“And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.”Satan pretends to be kind and helpful. He tries to appear as something good. Satan and his demons will give a psychic information about a person, in order to get that person hooked into spiritism – something that God forbids. It appears innocent at first, but soon a person finds themselves addicted to psychics – allowing Satan to control and destroy their life. 1 Peter 5:8 proclaims, “Be self-controlled and alert
. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." In most cases, the psychics themselves are likely deceived, not knowing the true source of the information they receive. CELTIC NEW YEAR
October 31 is the most important day in the satanic year. It marks the Celtic new year, and isalways at the end of the growing season, thus it became the "Festival of Death." On this day, the god of the Celticswas to have called up the spirits of the wicked dead who had died during the past year. At the same time, other evilspirits arose and went about the countryside harassing the people. On October 31, the Celtics expected to be harassedby ghosts, evil spirits, and demons; and it was no fun and games to them! They would light bonfires to guide the spiritsto their own town and to ward off evil spirits.

THE DRUIDS
The Celtics had satanic priests called Druids. On October 31, the Druids went from house to housedemanding certain foods, and all those who refused are cursed. Just Symbols?Witchcraft is very real but greatly misunderstood. I know because witchcraft goes back on the paternal side of myfamily for over five generations to Chesterfield, Massachusetts in 1770. These ancientwitches practiced human sacrifice, hollowed out pumpkins and turnips, carving faces in them, and then used candlesmade from human tallow to illuminate them. The druids played games such as bobbing for apples, as they floated in atub of October ale. The druids also practiced ritual sex known as the "Great Rite", as the fires blazed forth in thedarkness of the giant stone monoliths of Stonehenge near Salisbury, England. The apple was thought to be sacred,because when cut in half cross-wise, the core would reveal the Pentacle or five pointed star. The five points of thisstar represented Earth, Wind, Fire, Water and Spirit. When I was 13 years old, I began to invite the spirits of my deceasedgreat grandmother into myself. Soon I began to acquire powers and became an adept astrologer and palmreader. I also practiced numerology and was becoming a very powerful witch. Many people followed me — and theadvice that I gave them. I had achieved a great measure of success. By the time I was 19, I had reached my first goal.I was a powerful witch. Then, very suddenly, the realization hit me that I was making predictions without looking atmy charts. I would blurt out predictions in minute detail, and they would come to pass. I became frightfully awarethat I had become a sending station and was dispatching spirits to make my predictions come true. I predicted accidentsand tragedies, and suddenly I became filled with overwhelming fear. I did not know it at the time, but a dear oldwoman had been praying for me every day for a long time. She had known my grandparents, and God used her topray me out of darkness. I was completely disabled by fear, which God, in His mercy, allowed to come upon me. Afriend that I knew in high school persuaded me to come to church with him. It was a small apostolic church. I soonfound myself on my knees repenting, as I had now found a power far greater than all witchcraft. One week later I wasbaptized in water in the name of Jesus Christ. The next week I was baptized in the Holy Ghost. I felt fifty poundslighter, as many evil spirits fled from me as I yielded myself completely to my newfound friend, the Lord and Saviour,Jesus Christ. HALLOWEEN AND THE OCCULT

Song of Solomon 2:15Foxes sometime in search of food would enter into the grape orchards and devour the grapes and spoil the crop.However, the little foxes were too small to reach the grape bunches so they would chew on the vines and it wouldkill the whole vine. Instead of the farmer just losing his crop, he would lose his vine which was more disastrous.Spiritually some things we do or allow, that we might think is little or insignificant, can also be disastrous for us.Some may consider celebrating Halloween as only a little compromise. However, it is the "little foxes" that spoilthe vines and this little compromise can open the door to other evils. Many Christians do not realize that certaintraditions that are celebrated in the world have evil origins. Just because our society partakes in certain activitiesdoes not make them acceptable for Christians. We must look to Christ and His Word to see if the traditions of thisworld are good or evil. One very evil tradition is the celebration of Halloween. No Christian should partake in theactivities of this holiday, nor should they allow their children to do so. We can discern the evil of this day by takinga look at the festivities that are associated with its celebration. Children are dressed as witches, goblins, ghosts,little devils and fortune tellers. All these are representatives of Satan's kingdom. Games played at carnivals promotefear in children as they are ushered through spook houses and horror rooms. Skeletons, black cats and batsrepresent death and darkness. No carnival is complete without the gypsy who tells fortunes. Satan has gainedman's approval to celebrate his day by simply making it a tradition that seems like a fun day. The opposite is true,however, as more damage and harm are done on this day each year than any other holiday. Children are taught togo door to door chanting "trick or treat." It is unchristian to demand a gift under threat of playing some trick. Policeare on the alert for juvenile vandalism and caution parents to be watchful. Because so many of us have grownup celebrating Halloween, and seemingly did not experience any negative effects, some feel that not celebratingHalloween at all is an extreme measure. However, we would encourage you to pray about this. Is any holiday thatglorifies death and darkness (even in fun) a proper thing for a Christian to do since we have been called out ofdarkness into His marvelous light?
1 Peter 2:9: "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should showforth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light."Whether we feel that we have been really hurt by celebrating Halloween or not, is only part of the issue. How doesGod feel to see His people making light of demons and witchcraft? Shouldn't we be thinking about how to honorHim and show our love to Him? Where do our loyalties lie? Most Satanists celebrate this as their high holy dayand even offer human sacrifices to the devil. Until recently, most Christians have not questioned this traditionalcelebration, but rather have gone along with it by even bringing Halloween parties into the church. The earliestHalloween celebrations were not held by the early church, but the Druids in honor of Samhain, the "lord of thedead", and his demons, whose festival fell on November 1. Halloween actually means "holy or hallowed evening."Parents have a responsibility not to allow their children to be exposed to these evil celebrations. What might seemto some as innocent children's games is a "little fox" that can open the door to satanic influence and even demonpossession in some cases.
Children can be tormented with a spirit of fear that can come through this involvementthat stays with them throughout their lives. It also introduces children to witchcraft, making it easier for them tobecome involved in cults and occultic activities. When children are taught it is alright to play with the things ofdarkness, it does not give them the repulsion and resistance that they need to stand against greater Satanic involvement.When the things of Satan are taken lightly, as games and fun, it sets our children up to accept evil rather thanto resist it. This "little fox" is not only spreading evil to children but has been a curse for the church and our nationas well. As Christians, we should spread the word to others about the evil tradition of Halloween.

One year toward the end of October, we were in a meeting somewhere and my son Dylan and I were doinga little shopping at Wal-Mart. I guess I really didn't notice the typical Halloween decorations strungup around the store, witches, goblins, Jack O Lanterns and the like. When we got around to checking out,the cashier leaned over the counter towards my son, who must have been about 4 at the time and askedhim a question. "are you going to come back to the store later for trick or treating?" He looked at hercalmly and replied "No, that's of the devil!". I believe it is said "out of the mouths of babes…" I willnever forget the look that the cashier gave me, she said without uttering a word that she thought I was ahorrible parent because of what my son said. There seems some strange stands in our Independent, Fundamental,Bible Believing Baptist Churches. Now, don't get me wrong, this is my crowd. I am an IndependentBaptist from the top of my head to the heels of my boots and I have no intention of changing.But it seems to me that sometimes many of us have some strange convictions, or lack there of. If I had adollar for every Independent Baptist Church that I have been around, or knew of that had a Halloweenparty for its young people I would have several hundred more dollars than I do at the present. Mind you,not all of these churches call them Halloween parties, some call them harvest parties, and others costumeparties, while others use another name all together. I don't care what anyone says; any party held at theend of October involving costumes, candy and pumpkins is a Halloween party no matter what name yougive it. Maybe it is just me, but it seems odd that preachers will blast Hollywood and condone Halloween.We will rant and rave about dressing right but be silent when it comes to dressing up in Halloweencostumes. We will preach against public education but not say a word against Trick or Treating. Now Iam not belittling those stands, I believe they are right on the money. But I am also of the belief that Halloweenand all that is associated with it is absolutely, positively, with out a doubt straight out of the deepestpit of hell and those of us who have been bought with the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ should avoid anything that is associated with the devil and his kingdom. I don't believe it is harmless fun, Idon't believe that it is cute and cuddly. I believe it stinks of hell and I want nothing to do with it.
Call meodd, narrow minded and old fashioned, you are not the first and I am sure you won't be the last. I believethat we as Christians should stay far away from this thing called Halloween. I have preached againstSanta Claus and the Easter Bunny and people have been with me and agreed, but those same people gotuptight when I stood against Halloween. Now call me stupid if you haven't already but if there is somethingwrong with colored eggs and bunnies at Easter time, and there is something wrong with a fat manin a red suit at Christmas then surely there must be something wrong with witches, devils, goblins andghosts at Halloween. Jesus Said in Matthew 12:30 "He that is not with me is against me; and he thatgathereth not with me scattereth abroad."
In Matthew 6:24 He said "No man can serve two masters: foreither he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Yecannot serve God and mammon." And in James 1:8 we read "A double minded man is unstable in all hisways." If you were to list all that you did on a daily basis, everything you were exposed to and partook ofyou could divide everything on your list into 3 categories: things for God, things against God and neutralthings.
There are very few things that are neutral (sleeping, eating, hygiene tasks, etc). That means thatevery other thing can be placed into the for God or Against God category. When you take a look atHalloween, its history, customs and ties to Satanism and witchcraft. There is clearly no way we could putit in the for God category on our list. That only leaves it one place to go. We must determine that it isagainst God.

This is always a difficult time for Christians, especially those with children. It has been suggested that for a Christianto be asked to celebrate Halloween is like asking a Holocaust survivor to celebrate Hitler's birthday! It is also adangerous time for some, since many of the seemingly "harmless" involvements associated with Halloween can alsobe "entries" for the occult, and can prove very tragic for the unwary The Occult is Increasingly Popular Halloweenis, for many, a "crossover" involvement in which innocent games can lead to serious entanglement with realwitches, neo-pagans, New Agers, and other occultists. A common pastime is the use of a Ouija board to attempt tocontact ghosts or spirits that are believed to be roaming about. This can lead to serious consequences including demonpossession. Demons have a vested interest in Halloween because it supports the occult, and it also offers noveland unexpected opportunities to control and influence people. Forms of the occult can include mediums, channelers,clairvoyants, psychics, spiritists, diviners, mystics, gurus, shamans, psychical researchers, Yogis, psychic and holistichealers, astral travel, astrology, mysticism, Ouija boards, Tarot cards, contact with the dead, UFOs, and thousandsof other practices which almost defy cataloging. Occultism includes Satanism, astrology, Kabbalah, Gnosticism,theosophy, witchcraft and many forms of serious magic.
It includes activities seeking the acquisition of"hidden" things-which are expressly forbidden by God in the Bible. Halloween practices can open the door to theoccult and can introduce forces into people's lives that they are not equipped to combat. There is genuine power inthe occult, but it is demonic power. Any serious study of Biblical demonology will reveal Satan as the power behindfalse religion, witchcraft, idolatry and the occult. The Word of God makes it clear that these are all to be shunned asdangerous. There were many superstitions and false concepts in ancient Israel about which the Bible is silent. However,occultism, in any form, was punishable by death! Why?

Can we borrow the pagan customs and superstitions of ancient people and "Christianize" them? Who can deny that virtuallyall of the symbols of Halloween are evil? Witches, monsters, ogres, vampires, ghosts, ghouls, goblins, devils and demonsall portray evil. Vandalism and wanton disregard for the property of others is common on Halloween night. Policeofficials everywhere report a great increase in such activities on Halloween. Worse yet are the horrifying accounts of poisonedcandy and fruits booby-trapped with razor blades and needles. Such threats are so real that many hospitals offer freeX-rays of Halloween treats in order to prevent children from being harmed. Who but Satan could inspire such monstrousactions? When America and the world celebrates this Festival of Death and the powers of darkness by masquerading asevil creatures or decorating our homes, schools, businesses and churches with occult symbols, Satanic power is glorified.While you may have participated "all in fun," be assured, Halloween is serious business for Satanists and witches.
Those who oppose Christ are known to organize on Halloween to observe satanic rituals, to cast spells, to oppose churches andfamilies, to perform sacrilegious acts, and to even offer blood sacrifices to Satan. When Christians participate in Halloween,it sends a message to children that witchcraft, demonism, Satanism, and the occult are something fun, entertaining andharmless. Many years ago, someone wrote that one of Satan's most deceptive tactics is to convince people that he doesn'texist. Apparently he has done a good job in his deception. Sadly, many people think of the devil as no more than a symbolof evil. Many people today also do not think of witches as real people who practice magic, but simply as imaginary figureswho represent the supernatural world and everything that is 'spooky.'
Recognizing this pagan holiday gives the false impressionthat what is actually lethal is innocuous. Some children develop a fascination with the supernatural which leadsthem later into more sinister occult practices. It's the spiritual equivalent of painting a loaded gun to look like a toy andgiving it to child to play with. It is the kind of celebration that encourages kids like the 16- year-old in Pearl, Mississippiwho stabbed his mother to death in her sleep and then opened fire at his high school, killing two students and woundingseven. Authorities found this student along with at least six others involved in a small, avowedly satanic clique that call itself "Kroth."
Central to Satan's goals is the widespread acceptance of the supernatural, including the occult, on the part ofNorth Americans, accompanied by a great revival of spiritism all over the world. Over the last 30 years, the occult hasmoved into the mainstream of America - in television, movies, magazines, business, and various aspects of daily life. Movies,books, magazines and encyclopedias of the supernatural have abounded. Turn on your TV and hear from the everpresent"Psychic Friends" hotline, or see lead characters in TV shows meet their "spirit guide." Entire bookstores devotedto the occult have become common. Universities regularly offer courses on witchcraft and magic - usually the so-called"white" variety. Increasingly the curriculum in many public schools is becoming a primer in occultism.
Impressions, a curriculumused in many school districts instructs teachers and students in how to cast spells. One teacher's manual reads,"Tell the children that a magician has cast a spell on some children. Have them work in pairs to write the magic spell themagician used. Have each pair write another spell to reverse the first spell. Have them chant their spells." About 16,000school districts use the Pumsey the Dragon curriculum, by Jill Anderson. Many of the relaxation techniques used are identicalto those used in hypnosis. Another curriculum called Duso the Dolphin employs relaxation techniques and sends hypnotizedyoungsters off on guided fantasies to a place called Aquatron. Recently, a California skateboard manufacturer useda package enclosure similar in appearance to a gospel tract to encourage purchasers to sell their souls to the devil.
The brochuretitled, "Let's Make a Deal" has a smiley-faced devil who explains to Flame Boy what happened in heaven after hewas banished and then children are asked to sign and return a contract, by which they give possession of their souls to thedevil for eternity. Satanism has become a phenomena that crosses the city limit into the rural areas of our nation. It is reportedthere are some 6000 witches, and approximately 10 million people are involved in the occult. However, it is verydifficult to establish how many actually participate. These individuals are involved in a wide variety of activities from simplycasting spells to human sacrifice. The news wires carry story after story about young children being kidnapped, only tobe found later as victims of some bizarre ritualistic crime.
As satantic involvement among our youth increases, we begin tosee the primary goal of such activity. It has become clear that the primary goal of satan is to alter an individual's values andturn him against himself, his beliefs, family, God and society. "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as aroaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour."
[1 Peter 5:8] Young satanists believe the strong will rule withSatan. Once an individual becomes involved, they often make a pact with Satan. They commit themselves to a future datewhen they will take their own lives by suicide. They believe if they submit themselves to Satan in death, they will comeback in another life as a stronger being and rule with him forever. According to recent statistics, fourteen young people aday take their own lives. What's wrong with Halloween? It does not have even one single redeeming virtue. It is customborn out of pagan superstition. It is a demon-inspired, devil-glorifying, occult festival. It is an evening holy unto evil,death, and divination.
The Scriptures tells us to "Abstain from all appearance of evil." [1Thess. 5:22] Wake up Christian!This is the night of evil and those who love the Lord Jesus Christ should have nothing to do with it.

As the end of another year draws near and we begin to see the leaves on the trees turn and feel a chill inthe air we also begin to see the signs of the approaching fall celebrations, the first of which is halloween.As a child like most children I loved this time of year...it was a time of fun...a time to dress up in fun costumesand get lots and lots of candy. After I was called to preach and began to have a deeper walk withthe LORD I felt something different when it came to this celebration...an uneasy, spiritual convictionabout any participation in this so called holiday. Then the Holy Spirit began to lead me to study on thiscelebration, it's history AND what the WORD has to say on the subject.
To be honest I knew halloweenwasn't a good thing BUT I had no idea just how evil and what an abomination this was in the sight ofGod. I soon realized that this celebration was no more than a reenactment of a satanic ritual and festivalof death celebrated by the ancient Celts and Druids some 200 to 400 years before Christ. Looking at itnow I wonder how "we" could have been so deceived, how "we" could not have recognized this celebrationfor what it is. Many things that the enemy uses are hidden and often times clothed in sheep'sclothing BUT this, he flaunts right out in the open and for the most part the Church is ignorant to it! Allyou have to do is look at the costumes, decorations, entertainment, ANYTHING that has to do with thiscelebration and you can see that it promotes everything that God condemns!
This is a time that those inthe occult honour above any other time of the year...this is their time of atonement, their time of greatestpower...I know this not from just testimonies and articles that I have read but from speaking with an exwitchpersonally. This person who is now a born again child of God delivered by the blood of Jesus toldme that at the age of 3 she was dedicated to satan by her mother who was a witch and that halloween wastheir highest day of the year other than their own birthday. She also said that demons and devils werecalled upon during this time like no other time of the year and that if Christians only knew what this wasreally all about they would not have anything to do with it! In a poll taken by Focus on the Family only29% of Christians polled believed that halloween was evil. Another poll taken by Christianity Todayshowed that only 4% of Christians polled said that their church took a stand against it. How sad it is tothink that Christians have been so "bewitched" that they would take part in this time of satan worshipalong with the followers of satan! The word "bewitched" means to enchant; to operate on by some powerfulor irresistible influence...is it any wonder that satan uses tactics such as candy, costumes, and partiesto lure us as children into this time of satan worship and then as we get older as the Bibleteaches...what we learn as children stays with us as adults (Prov 22:6)!
Most were "bewitched" as children into believing that halloween is innocent fun when in reality it is nothing short of satan worship andhave become so calloused to satanism and the occult through television, films and yes halloween thatthey cannot see the forest for the trees! It might also be worth mentioning that Paul wrote this to the Galatians,who were Celts that settled in a small region of what is now modern day Turkey. He was soshocked that the Celtic Christians were going back and observing their old pagan holidays (perhaps evenspecifically the celebration of halloween or festival of death as it was know then) that he didn't know ifthey were truly Christian. I pray that you will take the time to read all of the information provided to youin this publication and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal to you this TRUTH.

An old proverb says, "When you sup with the devil, use a long spoon." Presumably, NO genuine Christianwould want to sup with the devil at all and yet many may be doing so in ignorance. As a former Wicca highpriest now saved by Jesus, I was astonished by how many Christians let their kids celebrate Halloween.Some churches even sponsor "haunted houses" and similar events on what is the Number One satanic"helliday" of the year. Halloween used to be called Samhain, and is still celebrated as an ancient pagan festivalof the dead by witches all over the world. Unfortunately, just giving the date a "holy" name like AllHallows' Eve or All Saints' Eve cannot change its grisly character. Halloween is an occasion when the ancientgods (actually demons) are worshiped with human sacrifice. The apostle Paul warns us: "But I say,that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that yeshould have fellowship with devils" (1 Cor. 10:20). If you are a Christian parent, God has given you a preciousresponsibility in your children. Remember, their ability to resist spiritual wickedness is much lessthan yours. If you allow your children to participate in Halloween (Trick or Treating, costume parties, etc.)you are allowing them to play on "the devil's turf," and Satan will definitely press his home court advantage.You are opening up doorways into their young lives for evil by bringing them into a kind of fellowshipwith these ancient "gods." We are commanded not to become involved with the unfruitful works ofdarkness (Eph. 5:11).
Both from my experience as a witch, and since getting saved, as a minister of the gospelof Jesus Christ, I have seen far too many examples of how breaking this command works out in lives.Remember, while we have God's promise of protection for ourselves and our children, that promise may nothold if we allow our children to celebrate this dark holiday. Case after case has come to us of children inrebellion. In many of these families, the problem can be traced back to the children being exposed to Halloweenat a young age. The Festival of DeathHalloween has always been satanic in nature. Satan has deluded Christians into celebrating his festival.
All Saints Day became All Hallows Day and came to be called in the western world All Hallows Eve,and even if it is called All Hallows Evening it has nothing to do with the Christian faith and it neverdid!

One must always remember Jesus Christ is our King, and our Shepherd, and often the Shepherds in Israel go ahead of all the sheep that graze the fields for food, and to rest!The Shepherd goes out ahead of the flock, but always keeps his eyes on all that he keeps, and the wise sheep always Watch the Shepherd.The Shepherd goes out ahead, and removes all of the bad weeds, and even some snakes to insure all he keeps is safe from harm.When the Shepherd sees a wolf or any other creature that doesnt belong he comes to the rescue, and walks along side all that he keeps, and always remember its the sheep that Love the Shepherd who stay the most close to him for they know the closer they are the more they can enjoy the Love, attention, and protection they get from the one who keeps them, and protects them from harm.
Sometimes a sheep will stray away,and the Further the sheep move away from the Shepherd the more vulnerable they become,and some sheep run real fast when they are in harms way right back to the Shepherds arms who keeps them.But sometimes the sheep get to prideful, and think they can take care of themselves, and they just might find whatever they think they need over the next hill, and as they move very far away they must call out for help just as some must pray, and if they dont get to far away into things they need not!
They can find their way back to the one who keeps them.One must always stay very close to the Shepherd, and never move to far away.What happens to the sheep that refuse to listen, and refuse to stay close to the Shepherd well they find themselves in a situation where they wish they never got into, and its very spooky to be Left Behind. Dont be Left Behind!The Shepherd keeps those he has, and its those who keep very close(abide) that enjoy the Love, attention, and protection from the one they Love, The Shepherd!

More than 2600 years ago, the Prophet Isaiah recorded a challenge hurled by God to all those who laid claim to Divinity, saying;"Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.” (Isaiah 41:23)

While many have picked up the challenge, including Mohammed, Nostradamus, Edgar Cayce, Joseph Smith, Charles Taze Russell, William Miller, Harold Camping, etc., all have failed to meet God's exacting standard of 100% accuracy, 100% of the time.
Consider what it means for Ezekiel to describe, 2500 years in advance, the geopolitical alliances of the 21st century. It was only sixty years ago that the world was at war -- the alliances described by Ezekiel didn't exist until that war forced them into being.

The Scriptures say that the 'hairs on your head are numbered' -- multiply that times every single person who ever lived. Every single one of them had free will choices and the choices made by our ancestors, no matter how far back we go, shaped the world we live in today. The same one foretold by the prophets.
Hebrew prophets named alliances between nations that didn't exist in their world, and in some cases, didn't exist until this generation.
Let's take a look at ten prophecies in the process of fulfillment in this generation. A lot of this is covering old ground to long-time Omega Letter readers, but it is worth taking a second look.

1. 'Take heed that no man deceive you' "
And as He sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto Him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of Thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you." (Matthew 24:3-4)
It's often been said that the 'devil's greatest trick is convincing people that he doesn't exist'. Deception has been raised in this generation to an art form. We expect to be deceived by our politicians, our entertainment, advertisers and the media.

2. An increase in disasters and wars.
"And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. " (24:6)
World War One and World War Two were cataclysmic events that shaped the 20th century, but they were domestic disputes in comparison with what World War Three with the Soviet Union would have looked like. For fifty years, the two sides were locked in ideological combat in what history calls the Cold War. Every morning for fifty years, each side woke up wondering if the Cold War would turn hot -- the ultimate rumor of war -- that ended only a decade ago. But, as Jesus noted, see that ye not be troubled, for the is not yet. And it wasn't.

3. The great "Falling Away".
"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition" (2 Thessalonians 2:3)
In this generation, being labeled a Christian 'fundamentalist' is almost a criminal charge. The very phrase "Christian fundamenalist" conjures up images of wild-eyed crazies stockpiling weapons against the end of the world while plotting the best way to blow up abortion clinics.

4. "But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased." (Daniel 12:4.
Until the beginning of the 20th century, very few commentaries existed on either Daniel or the Revelation. Both were considered to be filled with metaphors and symbolism. Even Calvin and Luther passed up the challenge. The words were 'sealed UNTIL THE TIME OF THE END'.
In this generation, the mysteries of Daniel and Revelation are largely unlocked.
Columbus sailed to the New World 1500 years after the Apostle Paul made his Meditterranean journey. Both sailed on wooden ships equipped with sails, as did ships until the end of the 19th century. One hundred years later, the same trip takes a few hours by air. 1900 years to get from Paul's ship to the 'unsinkable' Titanic. Sixty years after that, Neil Armstrong walked on the moon. We certainly can go 'to and fro'.
Moore's Law says that computer capacity doubles every 18 months. Knowledge is increasing at an exponential rate. There is technology being developed to make computers out of strands of DNA.

5. "And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold." (Matthew 24:12) -- Anybody else notice how many parents are murdering their children lately? Each of you can make as strong a case for the increasing tolerance of sin and the collapsing moral structure of society as eloquently as I can.

6. The emergence of the antichrist.
Daniel says that the antichrist's seminal act of power will be to make peace between Israel and her neighbors. Until this generation, there was no Israel to be at war. Today, the effort to bring peace is the single most important foreign policy goal of the US, EU, UN and Russia -- who together form the "Quartet" that developed the current 'road map'. The world is crying for a leader who can solve the global problems of the Middle East, terrorism and outlaw nations. Today. In this generation.

7. Earthquakes, Famines, Wars and Pestilences --
Matthew 24:7 speaks to all of these as being like labor pains -- growing in intensity and frequency as the time approaches. Earthquake activity is demonstrably on the increase, while ethnic wars rage across Africa and entire populations face starvation at a time when other countries are throwing leftovers in the garbage.
The entire sub-Saharan continent of Africa is facing extinction by the pestilence of AIDS -- while the technology exists to arrest it. We can make computers out of DNA strands, but the earthquakes, famines, wars and pestilences just keep getting more intense.

8. As it was in the days of Noah and Lot (Matthew 24:37, Luke 17:28-30)
"And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually" (Genesis 6:5) That wickedness is the hallmark of this age can be proved by picking up a newspaper.
The president refers to 'evil' and 'evildoers' in every speech. What could be more wicked than deliberately blowing up a bus filled with children to make a political statement?
Television could be described as 'imagination in a box'. We are entertained by vicariously participating in the story line. What entertains us the most? According to the box office receipts, murder, mayhem, war, destruction, occultic fantasy and sex.
Lot lived in Sodom, a place where homosexuality was rampant and widely accepted as an acceptable alternative lifestyle. Today, we have parades for homosexuals in drag, or in various stages of undress, flaunting their wickedness to the enthusiastic applause of the audience. (Romans 1:32)

9. "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." (Matthew 24:14)
Right now, some of you are reading these words in South Africa. Others in the UK. Still others in New Zealand, Australia, Mexico City, Vancouver, Nigeria and Bahrain. That's just the Omega Letter subscribers. There are literally thousands of Christian websites doing the same thing, with the same global reach. Soon, there will be no corner of the earth that the Gospel has not penetrated. Jesus said that once that happens, THEN shall the end come.

10. "For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect." (Matthew 24:24) I could make a list. But so could you.
Bible prophecy is both the proof of God's existence and the assurance we have of our salvation. "We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:" (2 Peter 1:19)
The same Voice that proclaimed, "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. (Isaiah 55:11) also proclaimed, "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." (John 10:28)
Bible prophecy is not gloom and doom, but is instead hope and a blessed assurance. It is proof positive that God remains on His Throne and that He WILL do all that He has promised. Including the following:
"For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Do You Have Faith?

"Without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that be is the rewarder of them that diligently seek him" (Heb. 11:6). It is a requirement, not just a suggestion, that we have faith! If we are to please God, we must believe that He is - that He exists and is the Creator of all things and the One who rewards those who diligently seek Him.
When we speak about faith we often think of Thomas, referred to as Doubting Thomas because of his statement: "Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe (Jn. 20:25). After Thomas personally saw Jesus miraculously appear in a room where he and other apostles were assembled. behind closed doors, and was able to feel with his own hands the holes that were pierced in Jesus hands and side, only then did he believe. Jesus replied "Because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed (Jn. 20:29).
None of us has literally seen Christ, yet the evidence of his existence is everywhere. Even the mere fact that we exist should be proof of a Creator God. We are told in Eph. 3:9 that Jesus is the Creator of all things - of the multiple thousands of various life- forms around us.
To believe that life just evolved is contrary to the Word of God. The Apostle Paul referred to this in his letter to the Romans. "Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God" (Rom. 8:21). A better translation of the word corruption is decay. When we come to understand that the entire creation is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God to remove it from a state of decay, we realize that the theory of evolution has no merit. For evolution suggests that the creation is growing rather than decaying.
Faith is the basic ingredient that Christians must have and it is a powerful force in the hands of a believer. Heb. 11, the "faith chapter" has many references to people who possessed much faith:
Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to fight the armies of the aliens. Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection. (v.33-35)
People throughout the ages have performed many mighty works because of their faith in God. It appears that the depth of our commitment and courage in times of distress is equivalent to the degree of faith that we have in Him.
Faith and love of God go "hand-in-hand". Faith comes first, then love. We must first have the faith that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Then after we begin to diligently seek Him and begin to apply His holy and righteous laws into our life, we find that our love for Him increases. Just as in a successful marriage, over time the love for our partner grows stronger and stronger. And as that love grows, our willingness to sacrifice for each other also grows. As our love grows, so does our commitment to each other - also true of our relationship with Jesus Christ and the Father.
The Bible is filled with stories of the faithful: David who even as a young shepherd boy withstood Goliath, a giant and a man of war. When he faced Goliath, his faith never wavered, nor did he give it a second thought. He had complete trust and confidence that God would be with him. And Abraham, who was willing to sacrifice his only son if God required it.
What about ourselves? Are we willing to make sacrifices in our own lives? Can we follow the examples of David, Abraham and other righteous people in the Bible and be willing to step out in faith? They had a close personal relationship with God. If we maintain the same kind of relationship we should also be able to step out in faith.
In Matthew 14:15-21, Jesus performs the miracle of feeding about 5000 people with five loaves and two fish. He then told his disciples to board a ship and sail to the other side of the sea. Meanwhile, he stayed behind and sent the multitudes away. During the disciples' journey the winds grew strong and the sea became restless. In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them walking on the sea. The disciples, thinking he was a spirit, became extremely frightened and cried out for fear. "But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, 'Be of good cheer; it is 1; be not afraid.' And then Peter answered him and said, 'Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.' And he said, 'Come.' And when Peter was come out of the ship, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.
But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid and beginning to sink, he cried saying, ' Lord, save me.' And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, 'O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt' (Mat. 14:27-31)?
After witnessing Jesus miraculously feed over five thousand people, and now seeing him walk across the water, Peter was ready to try walking on water himself He started out unafraid but then when he realized the dangers he became fearful and began to sink.
Do we sometimes find ourselves in a similar situation? Do we begin to step out in faith, just to find ourselves overcome by fear? In fact, do we sometimes compromise with God's laws because we fear personal loss? Perhaps we should examine ourselves to see how strong our faith is, and whether or not it is strong enough to overcome our fears.
Somewhat surprisingly, God lists the fearful and unbelievers right along with murderers when it comes to those who will not enter the Kingdom of God. "He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be My son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murders, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death" (Rev. 21:7-8).
Many scriptures tell us that it's the one who overcomes that will inherit all things. We cannot allow fear to keep us from obeying God nor from overcoming. This scripture is not telling us about just any kind of fear, like fear of heights or of flying. It refers to the kind of fear that keeps us from following Christ or from obeying God's commandments.
In I Jn. 4:18 we read, "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love." The first and greatest commandment is to love God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind (Mt. 22:37). If our love for God were perfect, then we would not fear personal loss. We could step out on faith without fear.
For us, it is not enough to just know-God's will, we must live it. Not the hearers only of the law, but the doers of the law, will be justified (Rom. 2:13).
Seriously consider what Jesus said in Luke 18:8. "When the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?" The implication is that not many people will truly have the kind of faith that convicts them.
The writer of Hebrews wrote, "Now faith is the substance [realization] of things hoped for, the evidence [confidence] of things not seen" (11:1). In other words, faith is truly believing in and being fully confident of the things God promises. That's how we have to go to God, believing all things.
"Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great reward. For ye have need of patience, that after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. for yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them that draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul" (Heb. 10:35-39). We cannot allow fear to keep us from obeying God. We have to overcome it through faith and love in Christ. Knowing that whatever the situation, Christ will take care of us.
In summary, faith is something that God requires of us. It is the beginning step in a meaningful relationship with Him. By having faith in God, it helps our love for Him to grow. As our love for God grows, so does our commitment to Him. Faith in God and love of God go hand-in-hand. Our faith can be measured by the amount of courage that we have, and the depth of our commitment to God

The United States has confirmed that the event reported by Syria last Thursday was more than merely an Israeli incursion into Syrian airspace, as was first believed.The problem is, Syria is such a target-rich environment, nobody is quite sure what the mission really was, and Israel's not talking. Everybody else, is, however.
According to CNN, the target was Iranian military supplies bound for Hezbollah in Lebanon.
The London Telegraph is suggesting that the raid was carried out with Washington's blessing, in part as a test of the new Russian-made Pantsyr air defense missile systems recently purchased from Moscow by Damascus.
Since Iran is also equipping itself with the Pantsyr air defense system, the Telegraph speculated that the US was extremely interested in seeing a live-fire demonstration.
Still a third source speculated to the New York Times that the real reason for the raid was to get intelligence on a number of suspected nuclear facilities Israel believes have been sponsored by North Korea.
"The Israelis think North Korea is selling to Iran and Syria what little they have left," the official told the Times, adding that the alleged strike had not necessarily provided evidence to confirm the intelligence.
However, it is noteworthy that the loudest voice of protest came from Pyongyang, who called the air strike a "dangerous provocation" aimed at breaching Syria's sovereignty and upsetting peace and security in the region.
"This is a very dangerous provocation little short of wantonly violating the sovereignty of Syria and seriously harassing the regional peace and security," a North Korean Foreign Ministry spokesman said.
"The Democratic People's Republic of Korea strongly denounces the above-said intrusion and extends full support and solidarity to the Syrian people in their just cause to defend the national security and the regional peace," he continued.
And the Kuwaiti daily, al-Jareeda is reporting today that Israel's target were unnamed Syrian missile batteries. According to that report, Israel targeted long-range missile batteries that were brought to Syria from Iran.
About the only point of common agreement was that the IAF used five fighters to carry out the attack and none were lost, despite Syria's alleged possession of the Russian Pantsyr system.
U.S. government and military sources said they were "happy to have Israel convey to both Syria and Iran the message that they can get in and out and strike when necessary," Haaretz reported.
While Israel probes Syria's defenses, Bill Gertz' subscription intelligence website, "Geostrategy-Direct" is reporting that its military sources in the Pentagon have completed preparations for what the Pentagon has dubbed a "prompt global strike" plan against Iran.
The preparations include the conversion of B-2 bombers to permit them to carry up to 80 500-pound Joint Direct Attack Munitions, (or JDAMs); and the recent conversion of four Trident nuclear missile submarines into conventionally-armed cruise missile shooters, each carrying 150 submarine-launched cruise missiles.
The submarines alone provide commanders with enough firepower to attack 600 aim points or targets with multiple missile salvos.
Aegis cruisers have been upgraded and the first F-22 advanced fighter bombers have been deployed. The F-22’s electronics make possible sophisticated information operations capabilities.
The military also have fielded a new 15-ton deep penetrating bomb that is designed to attacks deeply buried targets, like Iran’s nuclear facilities, many of which have been built in hardened bunkers. The B-2 can carry two of the new bombs and B-52 also can be outfitted with the penetrator.
Gertz, The Washington Times' top military investigative reporter, quoted one top US military officer who said the window of opportunity to take out Iran’s nuclear facilities is closing fast and that after the fall of 2007 Iran’s capability to retaliate will increase as the 2008 presidential election season begins by the start of next year.
“Many underestimate the modernization programs undertaken in the last several years related to U.S. global strike capabilities,” the officer said. “We have near quadrupled the number aim points we can strike with the same platforms we had prior to 9/11.”
That's good to know, since we've near quadrupled the number of potential targets since 9/11, as well.
Of all the various scenarios being presented for the backdrop for last week's air raid against Syria, the most frightening is the one that has the IAF carrying out a strike against North Korean-supplied nukes.
If Pyongyang is selling off its nukes to Damascus and Iran, then war is not only inevitable, it is imminent. And while there remains the "if" factor, Pyongyang's history doesn't give any hint that Kim Jong il would hesitate to do so, if the price was right.
The North Koreans have already agreed to abandon their nuclear program in exchange for huge bribes and concessions from the West. Again, with a big "if" -- IF Pyongyang really DOES intend to dump its nukes, then this would be a doubly-profitable way to do so.
So, while all the various scenarios are scary, the North Korean angle is the scariest. And I don't mind admitting that this scares me.
I would imagine that some of you are scared, too, and don't want to admit it to yourselves or anybody else, because you think it indicates a lack of faith.
Oh, I try not to let it scare me, too. I spend hours and hours every single day of the week sifting through evidence that tells me that all these things must come to pass. I know that as each new puzzle piece falls into place, it means the Rapture grows that much closer.
I am certain that the Bible is true, that the promises of Scripture will be fulfilled to the letter, that those prophetic promises are proof positive that God remains on the Throne, that Jesus is making preparations for His return, and that no matter what happens here, I will spend eternity in heaven.
But, knowing all that, I still get scared sometimes reading breaking news and intelligence reports, even though they serve to confirm to me all that I believe to be true about Bible prophecy and the generation in which we live.
I am not afraid of being dead -- it's the getting there that gives me pause for reflection. I know that I will spend eternity in heaven, but I've never seen eternity -- and to be brutally honest, I confess I am fairly comfortable with the here and now.
And even the most pious among us will admit that they are no more eager to get to heaven than I am. It's been rightly said that "everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die."
The Bible predicts the Rapture will take place before the antichrist takes the reins of government, (2nd Thessalonians 2:7-8) but nowhere can I find where the Rapture takes place before anything bad happens. Just that it happens before one, specific bad event takes place.
I know that the Bible predicts Israel will survive any war with Damascus or Tehran, (although Isaiah 17:1 says Damascus will not). I also know that Tehran will survive any war with the United States, since Ezekiel places Iran at the top of the list of the Gog-Magog Alliance.
But there is no reference to any nation resembling the United States during the Tribulation Period. That's pretty scary, given the probabilities facing us in the near future.
Fear is a natural, God-given emotion, and is one of mankind's most basic survival tools. Pain hurts, so that we fear it, and therefore, we are careful not to damage ourselves.
It is the fear of pain that makes us run from danger, preserving our lives. Without fear, few of us would survive to adulthood.
The Bible doesn't tell us not to fear so much as it teaches us how to redirect our fear. Jesus said to fear not those who can destroy the body, but rather to fear Him Who can destroy the soul.
The Psalmist wrote; "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me." (Psalms 23:4)
"Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea . . ." (Psalms 46:2)
"In God I will praise His word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me." (Psalms 56:4)
So, if scary news scares us, does that mean that we are faithless Christians? No.
There is a difference between being scared from time to time and living in fear.
I recall one time when I narrowly averted what could have been a catastrophic traffic accident.
I managed to dodge the threat, but in the process, spun around and did a couple of doughnuts, before sliding harmlessly into the median between the two lanes of traffic.
I was saved. I knew where I'd spend eternity. But it still scared the pants off me. I sat there for at least ten minutes before my right leg stopped shaking enough for me to push my foot down on the gas pedal. I was scared.
But after my leg stopped shaking, I pulled back out into traffic and completed the trip. Just because I was scared didn't mean I'd lost faith in my brakes, my driving ability, or my vehicle. I didn't sell the car when I got home.
It is all but impossible to see the signs of the times and not get scared once in awhile. It doesn't mean you've lost your faith in God. "Sudden fear" comes upon us all, saved and unsaved alike.
Don't let it worry you. It's part of our existence in this world. We all get scared. We may not be of this world, but we are in it.
"Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh. For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken." Proverbs 3:35-26)

a skit that was done at Winterfest this year set to “Everything” by the band Lifehouse. It brought me to tears and reminded me how careful I need to be every single day to cling to Jesus. We have so many “distractions” that can come against us, tempt us, and tear us away from God. And they will tear our life apart. But, if we spend our days right next to God, including Him in our daily activities, letting Him lead us, we will be protected.
If you need Jesus to come to your rescue and help you fight off the distractions, temptations, and harmful influences in your life all you have to do is ask for His help. Get down on your knees and pray to God. Ask Him to forgive you for your sins, tell Him that you believe that He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to die for you, so you could spend eternity in relationship with Him.

Snake handling was an outgrowth of the Azusa Street revival. In 1910, after reading in Mark 16:18 "they shall take up serpents… and it shall not hurt them," former bootlegger George Went Hensley, aka "Little George," took a rattlesnake box into the pulpit. He reached in and lifted out the venomous viper, showing his faith to take God at his Word. He then challenged his congregation to do the same. News spread throughout the hills of Grasshopper Valley in southeastern Tennessee. Before long, others joined in the handling of rattlers. The practice continued for ten years until one of the faithful died of a snakebite. Hensley moved to Harlan, Kentucky.
Ambrose J. Thomlinson, a travelling Bible salesman and founder of a Church of God of
Prophecy (a new Pentecostal denomination), ordained Hensley into the gospel ministry. For the next ten years Hensley preached and demonstrated snake handling. While on a preaching tour, he discovered his wife and a neighbor were having an affair. Hensley attacked his friend with a knife. Fleeing to the hills and turning his back on the faith, he rebuilt his whiskey still. A short time later, the law apprehended "Little George" and sent him to work on a chain gang. But Hensley executed a brilliant escape to Cleveland, Ohio, where he remarried and resumed preaching the Oneness Pentecostal message. Before long, he was again picking up serpents and heading back to Kentucky. Hensley’s fame spread far and wide. He married and divorced four times.
In 1928, the Church of God in Prophecy revoked Hensley’s license to preach and forbade all its members from further handling of snakes.
Snake handling did not return to Grasshopper Valley until 1943 when Raymond Hayes, one of Hensley’s converts, conducted a revival there. The outcome was the founding of Dolly Pond Church of God with Signs Following. Located on the spot of the first snake handling service, Dolly Pond Church is considered a hallowed site.
There were approximately 2,500 snake-handlers in America in the early 1940s. When deaths from snakebites became prevalent, state legislatures passed laws, which forbade the taking up of snakes in religious services. Despite the new statutes, snake handling persisted. Between 1936-1973, 35 persons died from poisonous bites, including Hensley who died on June 24, 1955 at the age of 74.
WHAT SNAKE HANDLING ENTAILS
A typical snake-handling meeting usually consists of songs of worship and preaching. The front of the church, beyond the altar, is the designated area for handling snakes. Many participants bring their own boxes containing rattlers, copperheads or cobras. The snakes are symbolic of Satan (Genesis 3:15; Luke 10:19). One demonstrates his power and authority over the enemy by picking up snakes. As the service progresses and the anointing flows, those receiving the unction open the box lids and lift the snakes high into the air. Some practitioners hold several snakes at a time, allowing them to slither and wrap themselves around their bodies. Usually the snake-handling members slip into altered states of consciousness during such episodes. Their eyes roll back and they twirl or dance in the Spirit and speak in tongues. However, not all are expected to handle snakes; only the anointed.
Besides the handling of serpents, many congregations encourage the drinking of poison during the worship service. They base their beliefs on Mark 16:18 - "And if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them." The most common substance used is strychnine.
WHAT BEING BITTEN REVEALS ABOUT THE HANDLER
When a person is bitten in a religious ceremony, it can signify one of five things:
That the person has sin in his/her life. If discovered to be the case, the faithful members shun the sinners. That the person handled the snake without being under "the anointing" of the Holy Ghost. Since God promises no protection to the unanointed, snakes are prone to bite them. That the person lacks the faith to handle the serpent. Handling snakes without faith is presumption. That God is testing the handlers to see if they will deny the faith when they are bitten. That God is a healer. One of the ways to know this is for him to heal the victim of a venomous snakebite (see Acts 28:1-5).In each case, the embedded poisonous fangs reveal something about the handler or God.
THE CONTEMPORARY SCENE
Snake-handling churches in America probably number in the low hundreds. They are mainly located in Kentucky and Tennessee, but also have congregations in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, the Carolinas, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio and Texas. Each church is autonomous, but many people travel between churches in a fifty to sixty mile radius to share in multiple snake-handling experiences. Approximately 5,000 people actively practice ceremonial snake handling. Periodically, the masses gather for a conference, called a homecoming, to take up serpents in each service.
OTHER DOCTRINAL BELIEFS
Snake-handling churches embrace the Oneness Pentecostal doctrines, including baptism in the name of Jesus, baptism for remission of sins, the giving of the Holy Ghost subsequent to baptism, and speaking in tongues as the evidence of salvation. Additionally they call upon their members to practice holiness in dress and demeanor Women cannot wear slacks or cut their hair. Members greet each other of the same sex with a "holy kiss." They rarely go to doctors or take medicine.
CONCLUSION
Taking up serpents is not a sign of spirituality. Indian snake charmers have been around for hundreds of years. They are masters of handling poisonous snakes. The ability is intuitive or a skill, and has nothing to do with "the anointing."
Snake-handling churches constitute a narrow branch of Oneness Pentecostalism. The movement is predominantly a rural one. The potential for the movement to grow beyond a few hundred churches is small. Remove snake handling from these churches and the only thing left is a lower middle class version of the United Pentecostal Church.

Snakes played a prominent part in pagan mythologies and religious ceremonies long before the Judeo-Christian story of the Garden of Eden. The snake has often been regarded as a fertility symbol. In the Mayan scripture Popul Vuh, the plumed serpent assists in the creation of life, as it does in the beliefs of the Aztec and the Pueblo Indians. The deity Dambollah, an African deity most frequently pictured as a serpent, is central to Haitian voudou. Various American Indian tribes have dances in which live snakes are carried, while the Yokut shamans of central California handled rattlesnakes at public ceremonies.
In the early twentieth century, among members of the Church of God (Cleveland, Tennessee), one of the early Pentecostal churches to emerge in the Appalachian Mountains of the American Southeast, the handling of poisonous snakes took on a new life and importance. These practices arose from a quite literal application of the "signs" of Jesus' disciples mentioned in the biblical gospel of Mark (16:17-18): "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."
While Pentecostals had practiced speaking in tongues and healing—both also mentioned as gifts of the Holy Spirit in the writings of the apostle Paul—no one had paid attention to the signs in the passage in Mark until 1909. That year George W. Hensley of Tennessee captured a rattlesnake and brought it to a church service for snake handling as a test of religious faith. In 1914, Hensley was invited to an annual meeting of the Church of God, whose leader Ambrose Tomlinson gave the practice tacit approval. In 1928, the leadership of the church realized their mistake and distanced themselves from the practice, but by that time it had spread among church members throughout the Appalachian Mountains and as far south as central Florida.
Hensley, Raymond Hays, and Thomas Harden eventually founded the Dolley Pond Church of God with Signs Following, in Pine Mountain, Tennessee; it became the mother church of Southern snake handling. Pushed out of the Church of God, the "signs" people founded similar churches in a loose fellowship that became in effect a new denomination. Snake handling became clandestine after World War II, when Tennessee led other states in passing laws to forbid the practice, following the publicity given to the death of a member of the Dolly Pond church. Less known is the associated practice of drinking poison, usually a solution of strychnine, at church services, also forbidden by law.
The astonishing fact is that scores of sincere devotees of snake handling have survived the bites of deadly snakes and the effects of drinking poisons at church ceremonies. Less than 75 deaths have been recorded as of the mid-1990s. The deaths that occurred were ascribed to lack of faith. Interestingly enough, Hensley, after surviving numerous snake bites, died after being bitten during a church service in Florida in 1965. Snake handling adds a dramatic element to religious faith, and has much in common with the earlier practice of the fire ordeal in non-Christian religions.
Present-day members of the Holiness Church of God in Jesus' Name in the Southeast are more concerned about the dangers of persecution through punitive laws against snake handling than from the practice itself. They regard such laws as a breach of their freedom to exercise their religious convictions sincerely in accordance with Holy Scripture.
Estimates place the number of snake-handling church members at about 3000, living chiefly in Ohio, Indiana, and Appalachia.

And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name they shall cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall . . . take up serpents and if they drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt them. . . . Mark 16: 17-18.
Among many Southern hill sects this Biblical injunction has caused violent dissension. Conservatives hold that a believer who accidentally tromps on a snake will be protected by the Lord. More radical brethren consider it "phenomenal doctrine." They catch and baptize snakes drape them over their necks and arms with only the paralyzing power of prayer for protection.
Occasionally the prayers are not sufficiently paralyzing, and there are mortalities. Last week two believers died.
In Wise County, Va., a snake leaned out and bit the wife of the Rev. Harve Kirk, a reverend of the Faith Holiness cult. Though Mrs. Kirk was pregnant, she refused medical aid. Harve prayed as never before and every available Faith Holiness member hurried up to pray, too. But Mrs. Kirk's hand swelled up and turned black. Her baby was born prematurely and died in 20 minutes. Mrs. Kirk kept shouting "Precious God" and "Glory to His Name." Six hours later she died too.
The other casualty was Lewis Francis Ford, a truck driver and lay preacher of the Dolly Pond Church of God in the hamlet of Grasshopper, Tenn. Brother Ford was a new man with snakes; he had handled them only since last July 22. He was bitten before he really started praying. His father explained afterward:
"He took three snakes out of the box and laid them over his arm. Then a fourth, a rattler, bit him on the finger. He brought his arm up and the snake was hanging by his fangs in Lewis' finger. He went on preaching for ten minutes and he got a good victory over the serpent. The snake was laying over the pulpit like he was dead when Lewis stepped down."
As soon as he had died, his wife requested snake handling at the funeral. Almost 3,000 people came to watch. The brethren played guitars, cymbals and tambourines and when they got to shouting good, the snake handling began. The Rev. Raymond Hayes of Grasshopper put the serpent that had bitten Brother Ford into the coffin. It coiled up quietly on Brother Ford's chest. In the excitement Brother Hayes was bitten by a rattler, but he paid it no heed and felt all right afterward.

In Tennessee, some 150 members of the Dolly Pond Church gleefully sang, chanted, passed rattlers and copperheads around in defiance of a six-month-old state law against handling snakes at public gatherings. When deputy sheriffs hauled nine of the snake-handlers off to jail, some of the others followed, tried, like Joshua, to shake the jail walls down (with hymns and prayer), declared they would not stop their rituals because "We take our law from God."

EPHESUS, Ga. -
Spencer Evans was consumed in the Spirit when the snake struck.
The 4-foot timber rattler sank its fangs into the 23-year-old preacher's left wrist as he rejoiced in God.
Mr. Evans said he was 20 minutes into his tent revival he felt the Spirit ``move on him.'' He leaned over, reached into a handmade wooden box and brought out the rattlesnake. The congregants were still on their feet, their arms waving to and fro in celebration of the Lord, their boots damp from the dank North Georgia air.
The next few seconds were a blur. Mr. Evans never saw the snake strike, but he remembers the feeling.
``It hit my wrist. It was like a baseball popped me. I was preachin', just comin' to the end of my message - it was dark out - and I wasn't watchin' it.''
Within the Holiness faith is a minority of churches whose members handle snakes and ``serpents.'' Mr. Evans is one of an estimated 100 snake-handlers at some 35 churches and numerous converted gas stations and dwellings scattered throughout Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, West Virginia, Kentucky and Indiana. The majority of these handlers firmly believe scripture instructs them not only to handle snakes but to drink strychnine and handle fire.
Two hours after Mr. Evans was bitten by the rattler, Franklin County EMS technician Mike Smith got the call. When he and his partner arrived, they found Mr. Evans in the bathroom of a friend's trailer adjacent to the 16-by-33-foot tent where he had been preaching to a crowd of 25.
Nauseated and slumped over the toilet, Mr. Evans told the EMTs that he wanted to stay and let the Holy Spirt take over.
Mr. Smith could see the venom was well on its way to killing the preacher.

He was already in shock. He was sweaty, clammy and nauseous. He had been vomiting, and his left arm had already grown black up to his elbow. No pulse could be found in his extremities and when we finally got his blood pressure, it was 56/0 - normal is around 140/80. He had no diastolic pressure.''
Mr. Smith knew if Mr. Evans stayed in the trailer, he would be dead in two to three hours.
After that night, his tent stood empty for nine days as doctors at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton worked feverishly to undo the swelling that had immobilized his left arm and was now gradually making its way up through his shoulder, neck and face.
``He really pumped it in me - I should have died in 20-30 minutes,'' said Mr. Evans. ``I was feeling some dizziness, like something stabbed me in the stomach. I told the EMT I didn't want to go, and he just said, `Yeah, you're goin.'¡''
Mr. Evans spent his 24th birthday, June 9, in the hospital. Doctors the previous days had to split his arm to relieve the extensive swelling. He visited the operating room three times where they ``cut my arm and laid it open, cleaned and sewed me up,'' he says.
The week after his release, June 15, Mr. Evans rejoined his friends for services at a Holiness church in Kingston, Ga. - the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. Again, he was moved by the Holy Spirit, anointed and handled snakes.
``I done took 'em up. I still believe it's right. The Bible didn't say they wouldn't bite,'' he says emphatically.
Nowhere else in the world are there congregations identical to these tucked neatly away in the pockets and hollows of the Appalachians. In the broadest terms, these congregations are fundamentalist, meaning scripture is interpreted literally. They recognize only the King James version of the Bible and consider themselves fiercely independent of mainstream Christian denominations.
Though similar to the Pentecostals in that they also speak in tongues, these churches do not recognize earthly authority and belong to no global denomination or governing body. Preachers ``rise'' or are ``called upon'' to preach as they did at the turn of the century. There are no ``official'' ordinations or seminaries.
Regular snake-handlers - those who handle at every service, two to three times a week - are commonly preachers. Most who drink strychnine and handle fire also handle snakes. Many who handle snakes do not handle fire or drink strychnine. Also, members in general feel it is not an imperative of the Lord's faith to handle snakes; handling snakes is not a test of faith but a mandate from God.
Few historians dispute that a roving preacher by the name of George Hensley founded the Holiness Church 80 years ago. Originally a member of the Church of God based in Cleveland, Tenn., Mr. Hensley parted ways with the Church of God in the early 1920s, when it stopped embracing serpent-handling.
Mark 16:18 of the King James Bible reads:
``They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.''
For the approximately 2,000 congregants who attend snake-handling churches, this passage and others taken literally (Luke 10:19) are cornerstones of their faith. From these stones spring fervent and steadfast beliefs governing dress, speech, civic loyalty and civil rights, marriage, and the right to pray, as outlined by God.
Faith is at times put in balance with death. Seventy-seven serpent-related deaths have been documented since the 1920s - less than one a year. In the event of a bite, medical attention is always offered, but it's usually refused.
Snake-handling is outlawed in every Appalachian state except West Virginia. In Georgia, under the laws of endangerment, it remains a misdemeanor to handle snakes without a permit, but the law is loosely enforced.
States west of the Rocky Mountains have no laws governing snake-handling.
In the years after the Civil War, a series of events set up the conditions that allowed for the creation of Hensley's Holiness churches.
``Vast amounts of coal and timber were discovered in remote areas of eastern Kentucky, on land where families had already established deep roots and homesteads,'' said David Kimbrough, an Appalachian folklore expert who has a doctorate in American history. ``Some families were run off their land and became subsistence farmers deep in the hills as sons and husbands went to work in the coal mines.''
Methodist preachers or ``circuit riders'' riding from coal camps to broken-down homes were some of the first to preach to these Often destitute, these families needed to see something demonstrative, such as the healing powers of the laying on of hands. Ministers preached the miraculous and summoned the Holy Spirit to empower, bolstering moral strength through participation.
``At the turn of the century, there was a merging of traditions based upon a reaction against Modernism. A fundamentalist movement emerged to go back and examine the text (the Bible) and interpret it literally,'' said Ralph Hood, professor of psychology at University of Tennessee and recipient of the coveted William James psychology award. ``The Pentecostal church was saying, `You need to find and feel those experiences and know (your faith) through emotion.' Their focus was on the experience. Holiness churches, whose roots stem from the Church of God, wanted an all-consuming experience, as manifested in a transformation of life.''

Today, this transformation is symbolized not only by speaking in tongues but also in appearance. Women ordinarily wear long dresses and their hair uncut. Neither makeup nor jewelry is commonly worn. Use of tobacco and donning mustaches or beards is forbidden for men. Equally shunned is gossip, lying and back-stabbing.
Most Holiness members will openly admit theirs is not a church for mainstreamers. To qualify, you must be devout and a warrior for Christ. You come to church prepared to wage spiritual warfare against the devil.
Mr. Evans is such a warrior.
Today, his only financial support comes from his wife. It will be three months before any movement will come back to his arm. He has lost his job at a local textile mill and has no insurance.
He promises to make good on his debt as he cites the King James Bible, the book of Job, and says, ``Job was perfect, and he lost everything. He trusted in the Lord. You're going to go through things on this Earth, and when it's all over and said and done with, it will be worth it all.''
``When I got bit, I was kinda afraid of passing over to the other side, or staying alive. God is so powerful. God told us to fear him. He said, `The beginning of wisdom is to fear the Lord.' He knows every serpent I ever took up and why I got bit. God had control over his mouth - God knows why.''
